PRP Kit Reference Guide
A reference to the major platelet-rich plasma systems used in orthopedic surgery and non-operative sports medicine. Filter by leukocyte type, spin protocol, or brand to match the right PRP preparation to your clinical indication.
Arthrex
3 productsThe most commonly used office-based PRP in sports medicine. Leukocyte- and RBC-depleted, low-volume preparation. Strong evidence base for knee OA, hip OA, lateral epicondylitis, and some tendinopathies. Quick prep (~5 min spin) and minimal post-injection inflammation.
A higher-dose, double-spin evolution of ACP. Produces leukocyte- and neutrophil-depleted PRP at significantly higher platelet concentrations than standard ACP. Indicated when a larger therapeutic platelet dose is desired (knee OA, advanced tendinopathy, surgical adjunct).
Fully automated system using 3-sensor optical separation. Adjustable hematocrit and leukocyte settings let the operator dial in LR-PRP for tendinopathies or LP-PRP for intra-articular use, from the same disposable. Common in OR settings (cartilage repair, rotator cuff, microfracture adjunct) and high-volume regenerative clinics.
EmCyte
4 productsEmCyte's flagship double-spin platform. Uniquely enriches monocytes while letting the operator control neutrophil inclusion â making it useful across both tendinopathies (LR setting) and intra-articular OA (LP setting). Strong adoption in non-operative regenerative sports medicine.
Earlier-generation double-spin PurePRP kit, still widely used. Same leukocyte selectivity principle as PurePRP SP at a lower-volume processing footprint. Workhorse for knee/hip OA and tendinopathy in office-based regenerative practices.
Lower-volume kit in the EmCyte line. Useful for small-joint, facet, or peritendinous injections where lower total volume is needed.
Bone marrow aspirate concentrate (BMAC) system that produces a cell concentrate alongside PRP. Indicated for advanced cartilage lesions, AVN, non-union, and recalcitrant tendinopathies.
Zimmer Biomet
2 productsA long-standing leukocyte-rich PRP system widely used in orthopedic ORs and hospital systems. âĨ90% platelet recovery with elevated WBC concentration. Used surgically (mixed with autograft/allograft bone) and clinically for tendinopathy. Strong literature base â frequently used as the comparator in PRP studies.
Companion to the GPS III. Produces fibrinogen-rich platelet-poor plasma concentrate (PPPc) used as a biologic carrier or scaffold-enhancer, often in surgical applications combined with PRP and bone graft.
Terumo BCT / Harvest
4 productsOne of the original point-of-care PRP platforms; longstanding orthopedic surgical use. Produces leukocyte-rich PRP with high CD34+ stem cell yields. Frequently used for rotator cuff augmentation, ACL reconstruction adjunct, and chronic tendinopathy.
Accessory kit that removes ~99% of red cells from the SmartPrep PRP product while retaining ~85% of platelets. Reduces inflammation/pain on injection â favored for intra-articular injections where RBC contamination is undesired.
Bone marrow aspirate concentrate output from the same SmartPrep platform. Used surgically and clinically for cartilage lesions, AVN, non-union, and recalcitrant tendon/ligament pathology.
Adipose tissue concentration system on the SmartPrep platform. Used for orthopedic applications (knee OA) and aesthetic/reconstructive fat grafting.
Regen Lab
4 productsA pure, leukocyte-poor PRP using sodium citrate anticoagulant and a thixotropic separating gel. Very low concentration factor but high platelet recovery efficiency. Strong evidence in knee OA and dermatology/aesthetics; popular for its simple single-tube workflow and low patient discomfort.
Higher-volume version of the BCT line for larger joint or multi-site treatments.
Adds an autologous thrombin serum tube to the BCT kit, enabling natural fibrin matrix (PRP gel) formation without exogenous chemical activation. Used for surgical wound healing, ulcers, and tissue scaffolding.
Cellular variant of the BCT line, enriching for mononuclear cells (lymphocytes/monocytes) while remaining granulocyte-poor. The THT variant is also distributed by Stryker for joint preservation use.
Apex Biologix
4 productsClosed buffy-coat-capture system with a benchtop processing station for reproducible separation. Configurable for leukocyte-enriched (tendinopathy) or low-leukocyte (intra-articular OA) preparations. Common in regenerative and interventional orthopedic clinics.
Platelet-rich fibrin product for aesthetics (microneedling, hair restoration), dental, and orthopedic applications where a sustained-release fibrin scaffold is desired.
Concentrates Alpha-2-Macroglobulin (A2M) and related anti-inflammatory proteins from platelet-poor plasma. Used for OA where the protease-inhibitor mechanism of A2M is the therapeutic target.
Bone marrow aspirate concentrate for cartilage lesions, AVN, and advanced regenerative indications.
Celling Biosciences
4 productsSingle-chamber thumb-wheel system that lets the operator precisely extract user-defined portions of the centrifuged stack. Used in regenerative orthopedics and surgical adjunct settings.
Adds an integrated nanopore filter for ultrafiltration of platelet-poor plasma proteins (A2M, IRAP). Targets OA where anti-inflammatory protein concentration matters. Combines PRP injection with a separate concentrated-protein injection from one draw.
Dual-chamber design lets the operator choose LR-PRP for tendinopathy or LP-PRP for joint indications, with precise dial-controlled layer extraction. Provides flexibility within a single product line.
Bone marrow concentrate for cartilage, AVN, non-union, and orthopedic surgical adjunct applications. Plus version adds protein ultrafiltration.
Isto Biologics
3 productsFully automated, closed-loop concentrator using optical sensors and BioAdaptive technology. Operator selects output volume and concentration. Common in hospital ORs (spine, orthopedics, sports surgery) and high-volume clinics. Each disposable can be run 3Ã per patient.
Bone marrow aspirate concentrate output on the Magellan platform. Recovers progenitor cells (MSCs and HSCs), platelets, and growth factors for surgical and clinical regenerative use.
Newer Isto kit that delivers PRP with precision-controlled cellular fractions â LR-PRP or LP-PRP from the same Magellan device, with defined leukocyte content for evidence-based dosing.
Dr. PRP USA
2 productsFDA 510(k) cleared single-use closed tube with patented one-step separation. >90% platelet recovery, operator-controlled RBC/WBC inclusion. Common in office-based regenerative medicine, aesthetics, hair restoration, and small-joint orthopedic injections. Compatible with most swinging-out centrifuges (Biomet, EmCyte, Harvest, ELMI).
Higher-volume version of the Dr. PRP kit (510(k) BK251201) for larger joint or multi-site applications. Same closed-tube workflow and visual chamber design.
Stryker
1 productStryker Joint Preservation's PRP system, distributed through an exclusive collaboration with RegenLab. One-step, single-tube preparation with an 8-minute centrifuge cycle. Maintains physiologic leukocyte levels (not granulocyte-rich). Used in office-based joint preservation, sports medicine, and surgical adjunct settings.
EXO Advantage
1 productA miniaturized adaptation of the AABB/Red Cross blood-banking workflow â two centrifugation steps with a precise decant at the plasma/WBC/RBC interface to transition between LP-PRP and LR-PRP from a single draw. Marketed on cost per billion platelets delivered rather than a fixed concentration factor, with emphasis on hitting dose thresholds from the literature (referencing the 2024 Boffa et al. AJSM paper on platelet concentration in knee OA). EXO Advantage also offers separate fibrin/exosome, BMAC, and adipose protocols on the same platform.
